Long Island ADU

This accessory dwelling unit (ADU) features a striking sculptural roof that integrates strategically placed skylights that allow natural light to flood the interior. The exterior is kept minimal, with a classic finish of cedar shingles that harmonizes with the surrounding neighborhood. Clad in a standing seam zinc metal roof, the position of the skylights offer visual privacy from the adjacent house and neighbors while creating a variety of light qualities in this modestly sized space throughout the day.

The ADU is constructed entirely from cross laminated timber which optimizes construction time and simultaneously offers a warm, natural finish to the interior.

Walnut shades filter the clerestory lighting and integrated millwork accommodates storage and A/V equipment.
